The Selenio SEL-2NET1 module enables broadcasters and telecom operators to use circuit-switched transport networks (OTN, SDH/SONET, PDH) to transmit and receive video, audio and corporate IT data between two Selenio chassis.
The Selenio SEL-2NET1 module supports OC12/STM-4, OC3/STM-1 or DS3/E3 optical interfaces. These interfaces can be configured using asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) circuit connections for legacy networks, or Generic Framing Procedure (GFP) encapsulation for achieving higher bandwidth utilization and connecting to newer IP networks.
Each module supports up to 240 video channels and up to 16 LVAN IDs. It also provides Gigabit Ethernet interfaces that can be used to bridge other Ethernet traffic across the WAN link.
In order to bridge the gap between legacy networks and newer IP networks, the Selenio SEL-2NET1 networking module delivers a full complement of features in a space- and power-efficient footprint, and resets the standard for simplicity during the transition from legacy circuit-switched networks to packet-based IP networks.

Module
Each Selenio SEL-2NET1 module is factory-configured with one active WAN interface for use with an E3, DS3, OC3, or STM-1 network. The Selenio chassis supports up to four SEL-2NET1 or SEL-MDX modules.
Option Keys
Optional software keys can be used to enable an OC-12/STM-4 interface, a second WAN interface, and local data networks to be bridged across WAN links.
Front Module Connectivity
The Selenio SEL-2NET1 application module is internally interconnected with the controller modules for 100Base-T for control and monitoring and 1000Base-T for video/data applications. The primary and backup reference signals are also distributed.
Back Module Connectivity
The Selenio SEL-2NET1 networking application module provides connectivity for two HD-BNC PDH receiver connectors, two HD-BNC PDH transmitter connectors, two Rx/Tx SFPs (SFPs not included), and two RJ-45 Ethernet connectors.

Data Routing and Policing

Each input Ethernet interface is associated with a single WAN interface in either trunk mode or access point mode
In access point mode, all Ethernet packets are assigned to a single channel
In trunk mode, up to 16 VLAN IDs (including the untagged packets) can be assigned to different channels transmitted over the WAN interface
Each channel is assigned a configured data rate and a single one can be marked as best effort (in which case it will be given any remaining bandwidth on the channel)
MPEG-2 Transport Stream
Up to 240 streams can be transmitted across the two WAN interfaces

Data smoothing of up to 60 ms of IP jitter or 16 ms of ATM jitter can be tolerated on the WAN or backplane interface
